Internet Trends for 2017
The Internet is an integral part of our day-to-day existence and we use it for everything, from reading, to shopping, to banking, to doing business and being social.
As we’re nearing the end of 2016, we’re wondering how the Web will evolve over the next 12 months.
Mobile-first and Responsive Design
It isn’t a new concept, but since mobile phones have officially been named as the number one instrument for browsing the Internet in the UK, businesses are understanding the
significance of having a website that displays correctly on mobile screens, before adjusting the design up for other devices with bigger screens.
Responsive design works hand-in-hand with Mobile-first because Google’s new algorithm gives preference to websites which responds and displays correctly across all devices.
Changeability is the key in Responsive Design and as sites are changing their layout to be displayed correctly across different devices they will also eventually think about
adjusting their composition and usability across different age groups.
For instance; elements like the size and spacing of the text will automatically enlarge for elderly users, and color arrangements will also be adapted according to age,
perhaps displaying brighter, more bold colors for the youth; and a more toned down version for older users.
There has been a big focus on authenticity on the Internet, and stock images and clip art will become less acceptable.
In order for a brand to to establish expertise and gain trust with potential customers, they should think about using bespoke graphics and photos which represent their true personality.
Provoking a feeling of security - and, trust in particular - is one of the most important tasks of a good Web System and Mobile Application.
With an ever increasing consideration for data protection and security there will be a continuous focus on Developers for the evolvement of successful security and trust building measures across all devices.
Live Streaming and Real-time
We have already seen a huge rise in the success of Live Streaming with apps like Facebook Live; and there will also be a persistent increase in
Real-time Data Reports and Statistics across all Industries and Social Media Channels.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is always on the list of future trends to get excited about; and although some Industry leaders in AI technology -
like Facebook and Google - are already using it to improve search results, display relevant ads or spot errors,
we don’t doubt that it will be progressively incorporated into more systems across the Internet.
When we look at the past 12 months it seems like larger font sizes and minimalist text compositions with more white space will become the norm.
We also think designs that respond to hand movements will be on the increase; and of course so will the use of video.
The most captivating digital practices will always continue to exhibit its promise and the Internet will continue to expand and evolve in order to prove its value.
So, the processes and methods we use to utilise all these technologies will always continue to grow with it.
We would love to hear your thoughts about the trends that emerged during the past year; or if you have any interesting predictions for 2017.
